Personal Testimonies

Kala Briolat:  2004 fall retreat

I want to say thanks for one of the near-best weekends I've ever had. There wasn't a single moment when I wasn't having a blast or learning something about one of you or myself. You were all so supportive and I really appreciate everything we taught each other.

Carolyn Lovelace (Aquinas College in Grand Rapids):  2004 winter retreat

"I just wanted to say once again thanks to ya'll for being so accepting and supportive and nice and wonderful and caring and...the list could go on forever, 'cause you are all EXTRAORDINARY!  I had a truly memorable time on the retreat."

Andy Johnson:  2005 fall retreat

"I believe this retreat was the most powerful. It got me thinking a lot of about my faith and exactly how Jesus is inviting me. Well now that the retreat is sadly over, I seem to find my path with the Lord. Thanks again to everyone as I had such a great weekend. I love all of you!"

Ryan Anthony:  2005 fall retreat

"This past weekends retreat was an absolute blessing. Being able to devote so much time to God really deepens your faith and brings you closer to him. I did not want to leave on Sunday afternoon. Being with everyone made me feel like I am part of a big family and that was really special to me. The lunch bags were a great idea. It gave people a chance to reach out and touch others they didn't know to well. I recommend the retreat for anyone that couldn't go and is thinking about going to one in the future. This retreat gave me the chance to make friendships I know will be with me the rest of my life. God works in wonderful ways."

Joni Laus:  2007 fall retreat

"As always, I had a fun time and learned more about my faith. We had many great speakers, including, my favorite, Sister Diane. From her, I learned why we hold on to some of the traditions in the Catholic Faith, as well as the connections between different religions in the world. Other speakers talked about topics such as marriage, evangelization, and sticking with God through the tough times. Besides listening to speakers we had many different sessions and activities such as Praise and Worship, a talent show, girls/guys session and many more. I got to help lead Praise and Worship on this retreat. This was an amazing experience that I got to share with the other musicians and hope to continue doing later with Newman activities. While this retreat was like many of the others, it was also very different. I met new people and I always seem to learn more about me and my community of faith at Newman Retreats. Giving up a weekend of fun or studying at school may seem like a unworthy tradeoff, but being as busy as the next college student, I can say without a doubt that a this retreat was the best prescription for any ailment of the soul."
