This is a status update for the floor replacement project. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
THE FLOOR IS COMPLETE! Thanks to the few contractors who helped us with this process. We look forward to many years of enjoyments of this new floor. Below you will find the pictorial history of the project and its completion. We are blessed to have such a beautiful part of our church. All scheduled Masses are back at St. Paul. See the bulletin or the schedule webpage for more information on worship times and dates. We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time.
What happened with the change? Phase 1—removal of pews—the pews were removed from churched and stored in the lounge during construction. This allowed for savings of not storing them off sight. This restricted the use of the lounge during the project. Phase 2—Removal of tile—the tile in the church was found to contain asbestos fibers. We had professions tell us that this was not been a health risk but turns into one when we remove and dispose of it. Thus we contracted this out to an authorized remover of asbestos. The asbestos problem was completely and safely removed from the church. Phase 3—Tile and carpet installation. See below for details. Phase 4—replacement of pews—pews were returned to the church with a few adjustments. Room for handicap access and some additional space requirements will required removal of some pews from church and adjustments to others. In the long run there was minimal affect on seating availability and allow for better access for all.
How was this project be funded? This project was approved to be paid for directly out of our savings. Throughout the years we as a parish have been able to save some money from the generous contributions of the parishioners(Through normal donations, specific donations to the floor project and through generous contribution from CSA contributions). Through this effort we are able to completely pay for this project. The total cost is expected to be between $45,000 and $50,000. An update will be made soon on the actual costs.

Pew removal/before tile removal
Due to the fact that the tile in the church was asbestos we needed to properly contract someone to handle the removal of the tile.
